I remember an ad for the Red Cross some years back, that described working for them as "The Toughest Job You'll Ever Love". I believe that that statement all describes fatherhood as well. It can be, at times, a thankless job. But it has been the most amazing experiences of my life. Other times, trying to get through to my very willful children can be like leading a hopeless charge up hill (they get that from their mom).
My role as a dad doesn't afford me the time to pursue my hobbies, but I have been able to see my daughters pursue their interests and I wouldn't miss one minute of it.
So, I would like to wish every dad out there, especially mine, a sincere and heartfelt Happy Father's Day, you are all loved more than you realize.

ReplyDeleteI think that ad was actually for the Peace Corps, but the sentiment is still appropriate. Having kids is a definite drain on the hobby time. You just need to get your daughters into it! :)
