Assault Terminators - WIP

So I started working on my Terminator Squad. I originally wanted a standard squad with a heavy flamer or assault cannon, but the Assault Squad was all that I had on hand and at $50 a box, I was willing to put that one off. Any way, I got the legs and torsos together nad I've decided to go with 3 lightning claws and 2 thunder hammers. This round will be nothing fancy. In fact, I modeled them after the examples on the box. I'm hoping to start painting them by the end of the week.

Rubio's 500 - Done!!

I finally finished my first 500 points of Crimson Fists. It took a while, but I really feel like I've accomplished something. My first COMPLETELY PAINTED army, albeit a small one. Okay, take a look and enjoy, while I head downstairs and get to work on my next unit.

Zombie Friday

I sat down and watched Night of the Living Dead (3D), a cheesy version released back in 1996. That's 90 minutes of my life that I will never get back. But what kept my attention was this little hottie. Granted, she wasn't real sexy, with her hair all matted, but I knew there was something about her. So, I decided to google the young lady. Here's what I found.

Predator - Done

...well 99% done. After looking at these shots, the tank looks a little too pristine. So I'm going to add some highlights on the edges and maybe some scrapes or weathering and then that should do it.

This tank is called the Righteous Blade, and the Black Templar iconography represents it's participation in the Declates crusade. Maybe I should hand paint a few more honors on her hull.

I've also finished painting the 10-man Tac Squad and theres about 3 models left to paint on the 5-man squad, then I'm done with the 500 point list. I think, in honor of Space Hulk, I'll paint up a squad of Terminators.

I did it....

I won't bother posting all of the pics of the new Space Hulk game that's coming out in ONLY TWO WEEKS!!!! YEAH BABY!!!!! I'll just post the box cover, 'cause it's freakin' awesome! I can't remember the last time I was this psyched (no pun intended) about a GW-related product being released. I'm not going to think or comment about the price, because then I won't be able to justify it. So I'm going to keep it simple. I wanted it, so I bought it. 'Nuff said.

Granted, I wasn't around 40k back in the day when the older version was popular, but I have yet to speak with a person that DIDN'T like the game. So I went ahead a pre-ordered one over the phone.

Crimson Fist Update - I'm nearly finished painting the 500 point list and will have pics posted by the weekend. I'll then decide on what I'll add next. I'm a bit behind schedule, but what the hell, at least I'm not losing interest. I've just been busy.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay - revamped??

The Hogs of War (link to the left) is reporting a new version of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. As a DnD player of old (early 80's), I'm very curious to see what Fantasy Flight Games is going to do with this. I've seen the most recent version published by Black Library or Green Ronin or whoever it was, but I didn't care for it. There were too many 'mundane' careers for my taste. When I hear of Fantasy RPG, I think of warriors, wizards and heroes of legend. Not a Messenger or Barmaid. I've always been a fan of roleplaying games and even tried to get a group together for some new DnD 4E, but couldn't generate any interest.

The new version of WHFRP, is peaking my interest. I own a couple of Fantasy Flight games and I've always been impressed with their products. I'll definitely check this one out. It would be a great way to put all of those fantasy models to use.

Quickie High Elf Update

I finished assembling the two mages and more than half way done putting together the Silver Helms. Just need to attach the arms and shields (which I may do last). But they'll at least be ready for use by the weekend. I'm hoping to at least start painting the archers by this weekend.

If I had a million dollars......

The Illinois State Lottery is currently at 124 Million and for the first time, I'm figuring, why not? I'll throw $10 down on some tickets. The worst that could happen is I can be $10 in the hole, right? BUT.........if I win, this would be the first thing that I bought (after I post bail for running naked in the street 'cause I won the lottery). I would then quit me job and buy a house that had a room dedicated to nothing but gaming. Neither the wife nor the kids would be allowed to enter

But then again, I'd need the winnings to stay in this hobby. By the way, I swiped the picture from Berk's Warhammer Blog. Sorry.

High Elf List - 1k

Okay, Here's my working list right now. I came up with this one on my lunch hour in my car. I have to re-acquiant myself with the WFB rule set, which I'll be doing during the whole modelling process. Feedback appreciated.

Mage - lvl 2, elven steed
Mage - lvl 2, dispel scroll (x2)
15 Spearmen - full cmd
10 Archers - light armor
10 Swordmasters of Hoeth - full cmd
5 Silver Helms - shields
1 RBT

997 points

So far, the Spearmen, Swordmasters, RBT, and Archers are assembled. I've got to get the two heroes built as well as the Silverhelms. For those of you who are wondering - my High Elves were a project that I had started some time ago, but got distracted and let them fall by the way side. The nice thing about returning to this army is that I have enough boxed stuff to keep this army growing for the next year or so.

Warhammer Fantasy - High Elves

I'm feeling ambitious and in an effort to revitalize my love for Warhammer Fantasy, I'm returning to the High Elf army that I have neglected for far too long. Here's the ambitious part - I'm going to work on this project alongside the Crimson Fists army that I've been devoting my time to.

I came up with a 1,500 pt list that is pretty much assembled and needs to be painted, so that will be my starting point. I'll post the list for feedback later. So check back, there will be more Crimson Fists AND High Elf material to come.

Review - One Hate

I finally got around to reading the Crimson Fist short story in Heroes of the Space Marines. There's nothing like reading stories about the army that you're collecting to motivate you. Though the story was short on action, it did give some interesting insight on the chapter and allowed for the introduction of several characters, inlcuding the grizzled old scout sergeant (which is the counterpart to Sgt Telion of the Ultramarines).

While not without it's contradictions, I really enjoyed it. If you haven't already, I'd give this one a read. It provides some detail on the background of the chapter as it exists today (post Rynn's World campaign).

Antheo's Men

So I'm a couple of days behind. Anyway, I finished four more marines for Tactical Squad I (Squad Antheo). This time around, I had a real hard time with the chapter badge. Which is what really tied me up. I had finished painting them Friday night as scheduled, but I couldn't get the creases or bubbles out no matter how much Microsol I used. I think I'm going to order the CF shoulder guards online - it'll make things move along faster.

To mask some of the mistakes, I applied a little Boltgun Metal to represent battle damage. I'll go back and dirty some of the models up a bit to make them look battle worn.
I'm priming the predator right now as well as the other five marine from Squad I, so again, I'm shooting to finishing by this weekend coming up.
