Vampire Hunter Friday

Oh, I almost forgot.

So GW's shipping process sucks....

As I may have mentioned, I pre-ordered the new BA codex. I did that for a few reasons. First, I'm a space marine junkie in all of their forms so I'll collect the codex. Second, I was really looking forward to having this book seeing as how the BA haven't gotten enough attention in quite some time (I thought the WD Codex was about as lame as you can get). Finally, I thought that I'd get it a day early (worse case scenario). Well it's late Friday night and I never received the codex which I ordered on March 8th. So I've got two options: a) wake my ass up and drive over the nearest GW store in the morning and buy a copy and send the other one back when it gets here or b) wait until the one I ordered arrives. If I go with option b - I've gotten a boring weekend in store and I don't think I can handle an Easter at my in-laws without some form of distraction...so, it looks like I better set the alarm.

Tonight's the premiere of Stargate Universe, so I'll check that out and hit the sack. Man, I'm pissed. Stupid GW.

New White Dwarf

I got my new White Dwarf over the weekend and I have to say, it's one of the better issues to come along in a while. Not only because the Space Marines are getting more love with the release of the Blood Angels, but some of the WFB articles have actually been pretty interesting.

Speaking of Blood Angels, I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on the new Codex and new models. I, of course have already ordered the Codex and some of the kits. I like the new hand flamer bits and the sprues have some cool looking bits.

Finished Rynn's World

Hi All,

It's been a while, but I cleaned out my work area and organized my models, supplies, paints, tools, etc. My daughter's volleyball season is over and now work can begin anew. In all of my travels (volleyball tournaments, dance competitions, etc). I was able to actually finish reading Rynn's World. By far one of the most exciting and entertaining 40k books in some time. The dramatic story of the Crimson Fists and their struggle to survive was awesome. The background information in this story is a must for any Crimson Fist player. For those of you who aren't much into reading, it also serves as great resource material. I took pages of notes while reading the book. I'm going to actually read it again, but this time for pure enjoyment.

The book lists every company captain and dozens of Crimson Fists battle brothers. I recommende this book for all 40k enthusiasts. I only hope the rest of the books in the series are as good. So now, I'm inspired to pick up my brush and some Regal Blue paint and start cranking out more Crimson Fists.

Oh Happy Monday!

I jetted out to the Battle Bunker on my lunch hour today and sure enough - Rynn's World was in stock, so naturally I picked it up as well as the new Tyranid Codex. I have not intentions of starting a Tyranid army (yes, you heard right), but I still wanted the codex. Thumbed through that really quick and the new art is awesome. I'll read through it as soon as I get about a hundred pages of Rynn's World under my belt.

I like the format of the new Space Marines Battle series. It's a larger book and contains battle maps of the campaign. Two others are due out: Helsreach (Black Templars) and The Hunt for Voldorius (Raven Guard).

Okay, off to read Rynn's World. Thanks for the heads up, fellow gamers.

Inquisitor Hector Rex

I picked up this sweet FW model in a trade with a former GW gamer on the cheap who's become disillusioned with Games Workshop in general. This is a model that I've admired for quite some time and have wanted to own, not neccesarily as part of an army, but just to have in my collection. The details of the sculpt is amazing and the pose it bad ass. I just hope I can do it justice when I get it painted up. The set came with the Inquisitor and a 3-man retinue - Exorcist (Heirophant), Astropath (Mystic) and Rex's Sword Bearer (Acolyte). Hmmm. Should I try my hand at a Daemonhunters force??? Just in case, anyone know where I can find Rex's rules?

Coming Soon - Rynn's World

Tne new novel by Steve Parker, Rynn's World is due to release next month and I'm already chomping at the bit. While surfing the web earlier ('cause I can't do it at work anymore), I stumbled upon Steve's website and noticed the blurp about the new book. Check it out.

More Crimson Fists

I finally got around to trying out the metal CF bits from Games Workshop. I like the way they fit and they do look nicer than the old ones. I painted up one of the MkII veterans and a couple of tactical marines. But I'm thinking of painting the background black instead of metal. It felt good to paint a few Crimson Fists again. The trick in painting an army (or one of them) is not painting so many that you get bored.

Next month the new Rynn's World novel comes out and I can't wait to read that. I finished Sons of Dorn and the final battles in the book were pretty entertaining. I just started reading Salamander. I'm hoping to get that one done before Rynn's World is released.

Sons of Dorn

Reading the new space marine novel, Sons of Dorn by Chris Roberson. As 40k novels go, the first 200 pages or so, are pretty weak. Why Roberson feels the need to re-hash the process by which candidates are selected and trained is beyond me. I say bring on the action. Finally, the scouts of the 10th Company, Imperial Fists hit dirt side and the action ensues.

I know, I know, they are not the Crimson Fists, but coming from the same geneseed, I thought that I would cut them some slack. The action does pick up later on in the book and becomes a pretty entertaining read. It did whet my appetite for the impending release of Rynn's World.

First Purchase of 2010

After reading more about the Legion of the Damned in the January issue of White Dwarf, and seeing the models, I definitely wanted to add some of these to my army/collection, so I headed out Games Workshop and picked up a box. Another cool-looking Space Marine product from GW.

Happy New Year - 2010!

As you can see this is my first post in nearly a month and oddly enough, will be my last post of the year (and decade - yikes). Needless to say the hustle and bustle of Christmas took it's toll and kept me away from blogging, gaming, painting, etc. Well Christmas is done and we survived another one. Now it's time to get ready to settle in a face the long winter ahead. It's also time for a resolution or two...so here I go:
